Day 2: The Big Show Kasterlee
Day 2 of The Big Show in Kasterlee is all about knowledge sharing. That’s why some speakers were invited, including world record holder Travis Gienger. Next to that topics like fertilizers, fertilization and CO2 where touched by other speakers.
Hopefully everyone has enough insights now to break the world record in 2024.
Still on the program tonight: awards ceremony.

Proudly our president Paul Boonen opened “The Big Show” in Kasterlee yesterday. This was the beginning of a great weekend connecting the best big pumpkin growers from all over the world. For them it’s the chance to exchange tips and tricks.
USA, Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, you name it and they are there.

1e patch tour with visitors Stewie en Katty
A lot of big pumpkins are already growing in Kasterlee. Time to see how they’re doing during our first patch tour.
This time 2 guests joined: Stuart Paton and his wife Katty. This top grower from England was curious about how big our pumpkins would be (and if we have some tricks to grow them)
Are you also curious? Check out the pictures below.
GPC Pumpkin weigh-off Belgium 2020
After months of growing big pumpkins, it was time to know the exact weight. On Saturday October 3rd 2020 the GPC Pumpkin weigh-off Belgium was organized.
A giant pumpkin (1024,5kg) of Team Willemijns took the 1st place, following by Luc Vanheuckelom and Herman Boonen.
When talking about squashes, it was Jef Leysen who took the 1st place with his squash of 634,5kg.
Patch tour 2020
At the end of August, all members of the Pompoenengenootschap normally jump on their bike for the 2nd patch tour.
Due to Corona however, this was not possible this year. That’s why each grower was asked to measure it’s own pumpkin.
Starting with pumpkins of 150kg up to pumpkins of 750kg and more, it all looks really promising.
Click to see some pictures of what several growers already achieved until now.
Pumpkin Regatta 2019
On Sunday October 27th 2019, we organized the 12th edition of the Pumpkin Regatta in Kasterlee. There were a lot of people and more than 80 teams attended. This edition, there were even teams coming from the USA, Greece, England, Lithuania, etc…
Next to that, also the pumpkin games (for children), pumpkin curling and pumpkin cutting were organized again. Throughout the terrain, different pumpkin figures could be found and were funny and impressive to look at.
Just check our pictures to get an impression of this wonderful pumpkin experience called Pompoenregatta
